1 Sunday National Day Venue: Cyprus Bank Holiday Details: EOKA is a Cypriot/Greek guerrilla organisation, they attack the British in 1950’s under the leadership of Archbishop Makarios, he became the first President of the Republic of Cyprus in 1960.

13 Friday Good Friday – Greek Orthodox Church Venue: Cyprus Bank Holiday Details: The red hard boiled eggs are coloured on Thursday after the Divine Liturgy is the symbol of Easter (or Pascha). Saturday night the Easter bread and red eggs are taken to the church service and blessed by the Priests, first egg is cracked on the church wall and eaten, remainder taken home. The ritual of cracking the eggs takes part before Easter lunch, each family member takes an egg tapping against the other person’s egg, the last egg to be cracked the owner is believed to have a good year.
